We’re looking for a temporary Digital Designer
At Oda, we develop grocery services to make the logistics of living surprisingly easy. First we built Norway’s leading online grocery store and now, partnered with Mathem in Sweden, we’re on our way to becoming the world’s most effective grocery system, delivering to thousands of Scandinavian doorsteps every week.
As part of our team, you’ll work with smart, passionate colleagues who bring their whole selves to work every day. It’s a fast-moving, collaborative environment where everyone is welcome and everyone’s opinion matters. Whether you're shaping the future of online retail, tackling complex logistical problems, or making everyday life better for our customers, your work will have a real impact. Read on to find out what part you could play in our story.
We’re looking for a temporary Digital Designer
Oda and Mathem compete on the quality of our superior user experience, and we intend to keep raising the bar.
We are now seeking a digital designer to top up our Shop product team while one of our colleagues is on parental leave. The Shop team is responsible for everything customer-facing in the Oda and Mathem services. It’s a big cross-functional team with a huge domain – which means we’re always doing big things that really help our customers!
As a digital designer, you’ll be a vital part of our UX Design discipline, embedded within a cross-functional team. You excel at the “build the thing right” aspect of product development, and you love diving into the details of user interfaces. You know how to leverage your skills in visual design, motion, and tech know-how to create software that’s both usable and useful while keeping it looking great.
What you’ll be doing as a digital designer
Interaction Design: Design complex new product features from initial thought to final implementation, showcasing mastery of flows, architecture, navigation, and content.
UI & Design Systems: Drive, develop, and improve our visual language. You’ll think through UI as a system at scale, knowing when to follow that system and when to invent new patterns—while helping your team use existing systems effectively.
Working with our design system: Oda’s design system speeds up our development work and helps keep our apps and website consistent. We expect you to take some ownership here, using system thinking and visual design skills to keep our products looking relevant, cohesive, and on-brand.
Hands-on Research and Prototyping: Run usability tests from start to finish (including recruiting and synthesis) using a "just enough" research approach. You'll use a range of prototyping tools and work closely with developers to build prototypes directly in code.
Tech Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with developers to avoid traditional handoffs. You'll understand how Oda algorithms work, collaborate with data scientists, and coach other designers on platform patterns.
Design Communication: Write clearly and concisely for internal communications, provide well-formulated feedback to peers, and speak confidently on behalf of your team with stakeholders across Oda and Mathem.
To thrive in this role...
You are someone who takes initiative, recognizing new opportunities to make things better and taking action. Above all, you have a team mindset. You see the value in cross-discipline collaboration and work to lift others up and make things better for the team.
What you’ll need to succeed 🌟
We know that talent comes in many forms. While these are the core skills we're looking for, we value diverse perspectives and encourage you to apply even if you don't check every single box.
5+ years of experience with digital product development, working embedded within cross-functional teams.
A proven track record of delivering high-quality design work and successfully leading large projects from start to "live".
Deep domain knowledge and the ability to move the needle for your team’s targeted outcomes.
Strong relationship-building skills, making you a sought-after collaborator.
Language proficiency: English is our working language, but as this is a customer-facing design job, we expect you to be able to communicate with research subjects in Norwegian or Swedish.
What would be nice to have 💡
It's a bonus if you have
Experience in maintaining a design system and working with developers and other designers in adding new components.
Knowledge and understanding of accessibility and compliance in digital design.
Experience in doing user research (interviews and usability tests).
You enjoy working in an AI-integrated environment where we constantly iterate on what’s possible.
